A Greenville woman has learned that necessity truly is the "mother" of invention.  As a result of emergency surgery in 2005, Garnette Bane developed a healthcare product to assist other surgical patients.  Her idea was selected by New Carolina South Carolina's Council on Competitiveness as one of the top 50 innovations to create jobs for South Carolinians.  It has done just that!  In fact, approixmately 40 South Carolinians have been involved in the initial design, patent and production phase.  The product is produced exclusively in the Upstate.  Read the article in The Greenville News here.
