Second Upstate Business Expo Scheduled for September
COLUMBIA, SC – August 11, 2005 – The South Carolina Women’s Business Center will host the Upstate Business Expo September 28, at the Palmetto Expo Center in Greenville, SC. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and includes exhibits, business development-oriented seminars, a reception, and a power lunch presentation from keynote speaker Cathy Anderson, a serial entrepreneur who was one of the founding members of America Online.
“The Expo is provided to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship in the Upstate, teach entrepreneurs how to market themselves, and assist all entrepreneurs in developing business and strategies that ensure success in company operations and growth,” says Haidee Stith, executive director of the S.C. Women’s Business Center. “Last year’s inaugural Expo had 90 vendors displaying their products and services, but we have added exhibit space this year to accommodate up to 400 companies.” Exhibit space is still open and companies should contact Donna Croom at (803) 749-9011 or

Luncheon keynote speaker Cathy Anderson, who is a serial entrepreneur who helped found AOL and has started two other companies – coffee bar and movie theater, Coffee Underground, and indoor climbing gym Rocks & Ropes – is now a consultant to high-tech startup companies and a lecturer at Clemson University.
